Hello again!!
Well, more teams have been shaken out.
Allow me to quietly shuffle over to the Bench and join Tripp, the Triple Threat.
Twins, Rays, Braves... All gone. Gone!
I really thought the Rays would be fine... whoops! Ugh.
So, as we speak, Yankees are at Texas, down 5 to nothing in the 4th inning. Yanks are up 1-0 in the series after last nights' come from behind special... that series features One of Erv's teams, facing off against one of Erv's teams... no drama there.
Tonight at 7:57 Eastern, 6:57 Central, The Giants will face Philly, in Philly, on Fox. I bet you can't wait for the vocal stylings of Tim McCarver... Heh heh.
(you have to imagine his high nasal weak voice here...)
Joe Buck: Swing and a miss, strike one on Werth...
Tim McCarver: You see Joe, when you swing at the pitch, and you MISS it, the Umpire will call a STRIIIKE, whether the pitch was actually in the strike zone or NOT...
Thank you Captain Obvious... appreciate the insight...
Kathy has Philly, and Erv has, uhh, everyone else.
Kathy is sick as a dog right now. I seriously think she oughtta fill up a fire extinguisher full of Lysol, and the next time some co-worker shows up to sit next to her in a 3 hour meeting, and the coworker is covered with slimy germs, and is more dead than alive, Kathy could just frickin' UNLOAD the fire extinguisher all over him or her.... Be a good lesson to the others to STAY THE F*CK HOME IF YOU'RE SICK!!! Stop bringing your slimy diseases into little 3 hour meetings!!!
You'd only have to do that once, right?? After that, everyone who was sick would stay home, or at least skip the meetings, for fear of being blasted with a fire extinguisher full of Lysol...
Unreal. Who are these people?!?!?
Anyways, now I'm JAFO for the pool... That would be Just Another Forking Observer.
Kathy. Erv. Good luck to both of you.
I should have cut my losses and sold Kathy the Twins when I had the chance... Oh well.
Also, let me get on record one more time and say the 5 game series is a joke. Each series must be 7 games. It must. Cut the season down to 150, and then go into 3 seven-game sets. Done and done. the Twins and Rays, those series could have been great. Instead, they were finshed before they started. Which is sad.
Enjoy!

Now it gets interesting...
Okay people, NOW, NOW is when it gets interesting....
First off, condolences to Tripp, The Triple Threat from the East Coast of Florida... He has been eliminated from the pool.
Before we feel too bad about it though, keep in mind, he did say during our draft that he liked my Tampa Bay Rays pick. Which did baffle me slightly, it was a late 4th round pick... So, A) You were right, B) Thank you, and C) Why didn't you pick them yourself??
Okay, I do feel a little bad for Tripp. The Rays, Giants, Braves, Rangers, and Reds were on the board when he stepped to the podium and selected... The Chicago Cubs. Ugh. There's a good lesson for all the young gamblers out there: stay away from the Cubs. They will leave you standing on the side of the road with a handful of dog turds, every time.
Actually, the draft thing sort of worked, in a way. The first two rounds, which I felt were critical, produced 2 playoff teams, Yankees and Phillies. The 4th and 5th rounds produced 4 playoff teams. So much for the critical 1st two rounds....
Anways, without further ado, here is your playoff slate:
October 6th, 1:30 (all times Eastern), The Texas Rangers (Erv) will play at The Tampa Bay Rays (Patrick). TBS, by the way.
October 6th, 5 PM, The Big Red Machine, The Cincinnati Reds (Erv), play at The Philadelphia Phillies (Kathy). TBS. I guarantee you Pete Rose has a dime on this game, at least....
October 6th, 830 PM, The New York Yankees (Erv), failing to win the division, will travel to Minneapolis to face The Minnesota Twins (Patrick). TBS. Let me remind the court that Kathy wanted the Twins, and I stole them from her by picking them first.
October 7th, 9:30 PM, The Atlanta Braves (Patrick) travel to the City by the Bay and face The San Francisco Giants (Erv). TBS. Whaaaa??? What were the odds on these two teams facing off in the playoffs back in March??? What could I have made?? Nevermind, don't tell me, it'll just make me sick. Besides, back in March, I wouldn't have taken San Fran with a gun to my head...
To Summarize another way, for your viewing pleasure:
Erv: New York Yankees
San Francisco Giants
Texas Rangers
Cincinnati Reds
Patrick: Minnesota Twins
Tampa Bay Rays
Atlanta Braves
Kathy: Philadelphia Phillies
Odds on favorites right now, courtesy of Bodog.net
Phillies (+150) Kathy
Yankees (+250) Erv
TB Rays (+300) Patrick
Twins (+800) Patrick
Giants (+800) Erv
(And for people who aren't gambling degenerates like me, that means the Phillies, according to bookmakers, have the best chance right now of winning the World Series, and declining chances as the list goes down. Smaller number means better chance of winning. ie, the bettor,(that could be you), wins less money if that team wins.)
Enjoy the playoffs! The regular season drags on, but I do enjoy playoff baseball. Every at bat is big, every stranded runner is big... It just has a certain intensity and emotion that is sorely lacking in the regular season, aside from a huge Yankees Red Sox series, or something...
