Past the All Star Break

Welcome back, Super General Managers!!!

As I type this, St Louis is pounding the Cincinnatti Reds... a game with big NL implications.

And before I go any further, I gotta give Erv this one: Ben Sheets was placed on the DL, done for the year. I guess he was right about that one.

(Erv is chuckling, nodding his head right now....)

Anyways, lets see who has what going here.

Erv, the Super General Manager:

The Yankees, despite losing today, are leading their division.

The Diamondbacks are stinking.

The White Sox are leading their division. The Rangers are leading their division. The Reds are leading their division.

Erv is starting to look like a genius here....

Patrick:

The Angels have slipped below .500, and the Dodgers are falling behind. the Mannywood sign has been taken down. Doesn't look good in Cailfornia.

The Twins are lurking a half game back.

Tampa Bay is 2 games back of the Yankees, and may still have a shot.

Atlanta is leading their division, a shock to me, actually.

Oakland doesn't seem to have any answers for Texas, and Houston is worse than the Brewers. Nuff said.

Kathy, the Doctor of the Dugout:

The Phillies are 2 games back. I can't imagine they won't run down the Braves at some point. They're in a virtual dead heat with Erv's San Fran Giants for the wild card, as it stands this second.

Detroit has fallen below .500, and the wheels may be coming off for Jim Leyland...

The Mets, and their staggering payroll, are 9 games back of the Braves.

The Brewers need a 6 game winning streak just to get back to .500. And that seems unlikely, since we traded Jim Edmunds this afternoon.

Colorado is a few games behind... The Padres! Who lead the West!!!

The Nationals and Pirates are going nowhere.

Tripp, the Triple Threat:

The Red Sox are 6 games back, despite their impressive 64-49 record. What a brutal division.

The Cardinals are lurking, and I still would bet money they win that division.

Mariners fired Don Wakamatsu this afternoon. After you trade all the players away, is it really the manager's fault that you're losing???

The Chicago Cubs are 1-9 in their last ten tries... The Cubs annual implosion is in full bloom. Enjoy. Ahhh, like Lilacs in the spring, the Cubs August implosion is something to cherish each year... Sorry Tripp, we hate the Cubbies up here...

Not much else to say about Tripp's picks. KC and Baltimore, ouch.

Lotta baseball left to play, but at this point, Erv is looking very very strong.

The playoffs should be interesting. I think we're all gonna have a dog in the fight... We'll see how much fight is in the dog come October.
